Web-based portal helps you stay on top of international freight shipments.
As global competition becomes increasingly intense, it's essential to maintain a supply chain that's fast on its feet – and well managed. Flex® Global View event management and visibility tool from UPS delivers the up-to-the-minute information you need to make decisions and improve your results.
"The level of international shipment detail in Flex Global View surpasses that of any competitor we've used in the past." – Robert Angstadt, Style West.
Event notification. Flex Global View gives you integrated visibility into air, ocean or surface freight shipments, with event notification tools that proactively alert you when specified supply chain events occur. With access available 24/7 from any desktop or laptop with an Internet connection, you can set up e-mail alerts to notify you immediately if a delay, a customs hold or other unexpected event affects any shipment.
Tracking tools. Tracking tools provide instant access to the transactional details needed to make effective management decisions and monitor shipments through their life cycle, from the time they enter the UPS system until they are delivered. You can drill down for more detailed information using hyperlinks. Advanced functions let you search for specific shipments by UPS shipment number, date range, mode of transport, destination or other criteria. Overdue event screens help you follow shipments that have not moved along as planned, so you can take appropriate action.
Reporting tools. With the same dashboard approach, Flex Global View offers reporting tools to help manage your supply chain more efficiently. This includes easy tracking of customs entries from the U.S., Canada and other North and South American countries, from the time UPS opens an entry file to full release. The overdue event summary shows entries with overdue documents, filings or customs releases.
"The level of international shipment detail in Flex Global View surpasses that of any competitor we've used in the past," says Robert Angstadt of California-based importer Style West. "For example, I can view customs documents on screen and correct mistakes, like the wrong tariff code, so we don't pay higher tariffs than we should." Previously, tariff code errors could take months for Style West to correct after the fact, through a cumbersome appeals process at U.S. Customs.
"With the total tracking features in Flex Global View, I can let our receiving and sales teams know when shipments will arrive at our fulfillment center," Angstadt says. "Then we can make our customers aware of when we will ship their order – all before we have product in stock."
