Your customers can take control of home deliveries with a new app.
When your customers have flexibility to schedule home deliveries to suit their schedules, they're much more likely to stay loyal to you. And having that convenience is why, since 2011, more than 3 million members have joined UPS My Choice®, which provides customers with an approximate delivery time for their home deliveries, and the ability to reschedule or reroute packages to a different location.
Having streamlined access to UPS My Choice from Facebook makes thing easier for your customers.
Now Facebook users can access their UPS My Choice account without having to leave Facebook. How does that affect your business? Before, UPS My Choice members would have to log on to ups.com® to interact with My Choice. Having streamlined access from the most popular social media site makes it more likely that your customers will take advantage of UPS My Choice and its benefits.
"UPS My Choice's unique flexibility is a great service for anyone who receives shipments at home, such as online shoppers, for example, and is free to join," says Ann Kashnikow, a UPS marketing analyst. "Typically, UPS My Choice users are active on social media, so this integration is great for them."
As an added bonus, Facebook users can register for UPS My Choice right from the Facebook App, making it easy to get started and have one less login to remember.
Benefits for small businesses
The integration will improve your customers' overall shopping experience by providing them an additional access point to manage their deliveries.
"At UPS we work with our shippers to find ways to improve their customers' overall shopping experience. This includes providing the best experience when it comes to receiving their packages," Kashnikow says. "Many of our small business customers identified the increasing importance of engaging their customers on social networks – and UPS did, too. We realized in order to provide the best experience possible, we need to be where consumers are. This new app lets our customers' customers have visibility into their packages in a place they frequently visit."
How the integration works: Select the UPS My Choice app from the Facebook App Store. If you are an existing UPS My Choice member, select to either link your My UPS ID or if you are a new member, select to start the registration process. Once you've linked or completed registration you can access this new app.
There's more on ups.com
Also new is a UPS My Choice tab on ups.com. Located under the "Tracking" tab, it provides users an access point to My Choice directly from the home page.
"This feature further streamlines the user experience for our UPS My Choice members," says Kashnikow.
You can encourage your customers to sign up for UPS My Choice. Giving customers more control of their deliveries increases satisfaction with the purchasing experience. It should also reduce "where's my package" calls. Here's how it works:
Once your customers sign up for UPS My Choice, they will get delivery alerts before their packages arrive, which include an approximate delivery time within a four-hour window. For free, recipients can electronically authorize the release of packages requiring a signature, allowing drivers to release a package without a physical signature, or they can have them held at a UPS operating facility for pickup. For a $5 fee, customers can reroute packages to another address, reschedule delivery for another day or have packages delivered to The UPS Store®. Premium memberships are also available, so the per-package fees are waived.
