Hello to the poster who wanted to know if UPS 3rd Day select & 2nd Day Air guarantees are honored in December.

Commitment times for 2nd Day Air will be extended by 90 minutes on the following days: Nov. 25, Dec. 19-24 and Dec. 31. UPS 3-Day Select packages will continue to be delivered by end of day on the commmitted delivery day.

Hope that helps.

Happy holidays, the Compass guy.

Hi to the auto repair person. Not sure what might be happening here. If you would like to click "Ask a Question" at the top of this page and send me your e-mail address and the tracking number, I'll ask our Customer Service people to look into it. Your business relies on timely deliveries, and that's exactly what we want to provide for you. Best - the Compass guy.

I run a auto repair business. While waiting for a part to make a customers car run, I kept checking the tracking #. Then I called and they said it was on the truck to be delievered. then I found out it was on a truck to the USPS to be delievered under Ups contract. I can't do business like this! 4 day deliver turned into 8 days!

To Anonymous on 11/2/2011 7:07:47 AM, Compass guy here. I hesitate to give you a last shipping date for ground packages simply because some will reach their destinations in one business day and others can take up to nine business days, depending on origin and destination.

If it helps, however, I can say that the longest time in transit for ground packages means that shipping by December 13th should see packages delivered on time for Christmas.

Of course, the delivery guarantee is suspended for the holiday period, but this recommendation should see the vast majority of Christmas packages reaching their destinations in good time. Hope that helps.

Best regards, Jerry

From the Compass team: UPS Ground deliveries depend on distance. So, you will want to check ups.com/ctc (Time and Cost Calculator). For example, if you are shipping from Philadelphia, a UPS Ground package to Stamford, Conn., takes just one day, whereas a package bound for L.A. would take four days.

Hi commenters, this is the Compass guy. Because many customers have asked for it, we'll be releasing an Outlook calendar file later in the year. This will provide all of the last shipping-out dates for packages to reach their destinations before Dec. 25. We're also looking into the possibility of providing the same information in another format. We won't, however, be offering a Google calendar file this year because of lack of demand. Best - Jerry

It would be convenient if this were an ICS file for uploading into an electronic calendar.

This is nice to know, but where can I find a schedule of cut-off dates for shipping OUT around the holidays, (so packages arrive before the holiday)?

Hi, Anon. Compass guy here. I've got to tell you that we are consistently in awe of what our drivers achieve every day. These women and men are fit, smart, can think on their feet and problem-solve like no others. One day a few years ago, I donned the "browns" and spent a day with a driver on a ride-along. I was completely exhausted when I finally got home -- and that was splitting the driver's regular workload between two of us. I never underestimate our "industrial athletes." They're the best in the business.

Also, to go along with Compass Guy.. It is normal for businesses to recognize holidays that fall on a Sunday on the following Monday. As far as I am concerned most businesses will be closed those days as well..

To the poster who's having trouble downloading our PDFs -- we find this works just fine. If you're still having trouble, Ask the UPS Expert for help, and he'll (in other words, I'll)send you something. Best - Jerry P.S. You can find the expert here: http://bit.ly/iIDv8g

Compass guy here again. Loved the comment from the Anonymous poster who wrote: "Dec 26th and Jan 2? NO Pick up or regular Deliver? WOW. Most everyone I know will be back at work. Christmas is on a Sunday and your off on Monday? WOW." Here's my take on it: We don't call our drivers "industrial athletes" for nothing. During the busiest day of the five-day "Peak Week," last year, UPS delivered 278 packages every second, that's 24 million packages a day worldwide. If anyone deserves a break, it's these men and women -- and the team that stands behind them. And you're working on December 26th and January 2? All I can say is that I'm sorry, and -- wow. I'm glad I work with UPS! Thanks for such a fun question. Best - Jerry

Hi there. Jerry the Compass fellah here. I agree that in July we're still quite distant from the holidays and boy I'm glad about that. I've not even thought about what I should get for Mrs. Jerry for a gift. But here's the deal: There are many businesses out there that close on the days that UPS doesn't pick up and deliver. And we want to give those businesses as much time as we can to plan for the holidays. That's all. meantime, enjoy the summer! Best - Jerry

It would be very helpful to list specifically what services (GROUND) are not delivered or picked up on specific days. Ex. New Years Day.

Why are there separate calendars for each of your services (package, freight, LTL...). FedEx puts everything on one calendar and makes it easy for the customer. Just a suggestion.
