The most important part of your shipments is what's inside the package. But the outside of the package says a lot about your company, too. Your packaging is a brand message that you literally send out to the public and to your customers. UPS's new webinar, "The green side of your brown packages," shows you how to make environmentally wise choices about packaging – and reduce costs in the process.

The right packaging can reduce waste, conserve resources and cut expenses. For example, materials that protect the contents of your shipment reduce damage, which saves on returns, repackaging and reshipment as well as replacement of the product itself.

Part 1 of "The green side of your brown packages" teaches you about packing materials, damage reduction and cube optimization – reducing package bulk to maximize freight content. In Part 2, you'll meet George Purnell, vice president of Jubilations Cheesecakes, who shares how his company reduced shipping costs by 19 percent while improving the effectiveness and "greenness" of its shipping materials.
