It's a winning bid: eBay sellers can save time and money with UPS savings programs, eBay’s calculator, and UPS Shipping from PayPal.
If you want to make money on eBay, positive customer feedback is the key to success – the more, the better. That's why shipping is essential to what you do. If you provide a positive shipping experience, your customers are more likely to be satisfied. High ratings from buyers can lead to better visibility on eBay searches, discounts on eBay fees and repeat sales.
eBay encourages buyers to leave detailed seller ratings, known as DSRs, in four categories, and UPS can help you in all areas except one … describing the item you're selling is up to you!
Follow these tips to increase your chances to earn high customer satisfaction marks on eBay.
Before you list:When you list:Specify shipping costs and services. Buyers appreciate knowing upfront what they'll get for their money.
- If you are shipping internationally, state that customs fees, duties and taxes may apply.
Plan your packaging, or rely on the professional packing experts at
The UPS Store.
Specify your handling time. (If you've planned your packaging, handling will be a breeze.)
Use the eBay
Shipping Calculator to make it easy for you and your buyers to determine shipping costs. If you receive a UPS daily pickup service, have a UPS account that receives UPS Daily Rates, or have enrolled in the UPS Special Pricing Program for eBay Sellers or the UPS Savings Program for eBay PowerSellers, you may want to consider setting the Shipping Calculator to display UPS Daily Rates to your buyers. To set the calculator, in My eBay, under the
Account tab, select
Site Preferences. Next to
Shipping Preferences, select
Show. Next to
Offer this UPS shipping rate, select
Edit. Then select
Offer UPS Daily Rates to my buyers.
- Pass the savings on to your buyers! Doing so increases your chances of getting even better DSRs!
After it sells:Print shipping labels on PayPal. (You pay only the cost of shipping.) PayPal automatically populates the label with information from your account, and you can use a standard printer to create shipping labels. Plus your buyers get an automatic e-mail when their transactions are complete as well as online tracking of shipped items.
If you have high shipping volume or need international documentation, thermal ink-printed shipping labels or proof your package has a declared value over $999, then you may prefer a solution other than PayPal Shipping, such as
ShipGear,
ShipWorks,
ProStores, or eBay
Blackthorne Pro.
Offer shipment tracking to buyers. Even if you don't use PayPal shipping labels, you can easily upload UPS tracking information to eBay.
Include an attractive packing slip with the date of sale, payment and shipment information, plus a note of thanks for the sale.
